WHAT IS THE "QUAKER STEAK LAN PARTY"?

The Quaker Steak is a meeting of various gamers who get together with their computers to play Quake on a LAN. You might ask yourself why anybody would drag their exquisite and beautifully well endowed computers, (hopefully with 3D accelerators) to a room full of crazy Quakers, eating chips, drinking caffeine-rich pop and consuming other healthy foods while slowly roasting their minds on the sweet sound of rockets and shotguns for 10 hours?

Well, the answer is quite simple. It's a bloody great time! If you've ever had the opportunity to play Death Match Quake, Capture the Flag, or any other Quake Mod on the Internet, well… you simply haven't experienced the quintessential element of furious speed and dexterous response possible when playing on a LAN. You have to try it to believe it!

So come and join us, if you have the guts, to play the best multiplayer game yet: Quake II!

This party will be a medium sized one, so the maximum number of people we'll be able to accommodate will be 35 to 50

"QUAKER STEAK" , WHAT KIND OF NAME IS THAT?

Some people ask me "Why have you choosen Quaker Steak for you LAN party name? What does it mean?"

Well, when Doom came out we called ourselves "Doomers". Now, we play Quake(I, II, III or other FPS), and with all my friends calling ourselves "Quakers", Ihad to include Quaker as part of the name.

Steak is what we call a "Gib" ;) ... which could rapidly turn into a very good steak if you're really hungry!

And I found the Quaker StateTM logo pretty cool so I used it as the basis for for my logo. I asked them their permission but I'm still waiting for an answer, so I believe it's okay. ;)

Now you know the reason for the Quaker Steak name!

WHEN IS IT?

The next Quaker Steak Lan Party is being planned, with no precise date yet set. If you're interested in participating, however, email me! The date/time of the last QSLP was November 7, 1998. It began at 10am and ended at around 11pm.

The QSLP II is should be around November December, 1999.  Stay tuned.

WHERE WILL THIS EVENT BE HELD?

The locale will probably be in Montréal, (Québec, Canada) just like the QSLP I. Just click here to get clear directions!

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

The entrance to the QSLP1 cost was a mere 5$. It covered enough to pay the tables, chairs and helped me to pay the prize. So it will probably be very close to the same price.
